Instructions and Help about Va form 21-674c jun 2018-2024

Hello and thank you for coming. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Arthur Bergeron. I am a law attorney specializing in elder law. I work at my Rico Connell, where there were 70 of us and everyone gets to do what they like. Personally, I enjoy doing presentations at senior centers and assisted livings. I am delighted to be here at Orchard Hill in Sudbury to talk about a particular issue. I will be joined by Patty Surveys, who is a national expert on the Veterans Aid and Attendance benefit. I remember several years ago, while working, I kept hearing Patty's name being brought up as the real expert on this issue. I had no idea where she was located, so I got her phone number and reached out to her. She happens to work in Sudbury and lives in Marlborough. We have done some work together, specifically with assisted livings around the country. The reason we are presenting together is because there have been discussions nationally about changes in the regulations for the Veterans Aid and Attendance benefit. These changes have finally been adopted and are in effect today. Patty will go into further detail on this. Now, let's talk about my friends Frank and Mary. Whenever I do a presentation, I like to use their story as an example. Frank and Mary have simple goals - they want to live in their house until they pass away. If that is not possible, they want to live in a nice place that isn't a nursing home. It is important to note that not all big buildings, including assisted livings, are nursing homes. This is their basic goal. Whatever assets they have, they have saved them for this purpose.
